Ocean Conservancy - ($10,000) -
Support for contract employee working on advocacy for water
quality issues in California state legislature, specifically
regarding Proposition 40 and 50 fund allocation.
Environmental
Media Fund - ($7,500) -
Documentary special The Last Stand: Heroes at Ballona
Wetlands, about the struggle by ordinary citizens to
save the Ballona Wetlands, the largest remaining natural wetlands
ecosystem in Southern California. This film is airing on PBS
as part of a series called Natural Heroes.
Tuolumne
River Trust - ($20,000)
- Support for Membership Development and Marketing Projects
to build an active membership and self-sustaining donor program
to support the ongoing core programs of the Trust.
The
Nature Conservancy of Hawaii -
($50,000) - To promote the conservation of biological diversity
in the 8,000 acre Kona Hema Preserve and demonstrate the feasibility
of sustainable logging practices. Through the Robert W. Wilson
Challenge Fund, $25,000 in 2:1 matching funds will be granted
to The Nature Conservancy of Maryland for projects on the
Nanticoke River.

Habitat
Media - ($30,000) - Promotion
for the national PBS airing of Farming The Seas,
a documentary that explores what’s at stake as the aquaculture
industry spreads across the globe, and highlights groundbreaking
efforts to develop viable, sustainable operations.
Elkhorn
Slough Foundation -
($30,000) - Restoration and stewardship of acquired lands
that have been identified as the greatest source of damaging
runoff in the Elkhorn Slough watershed. Restoration efforts
include cleanup and stabilization of landforms, mnagement
of invasive weed species and reduction of cultivated areas
on acquired lands.
Sustainable
Fishery Advocates - ($20,000) - Support for FishWise,
a point of sale seafood labeling program that provides a direct
service to businesses interested in participating in a sustainable
trade of seafood. The program educates consumers on how their
choices in market effect conservation by using signage, labeling
and up-to-date in-store employee training.
Environmental Media Fund - ($10,000) - Distribution
and promotion of the national PBS series Natural Heroes, the
only showcase for independently produced programming on environmental
issues that informs and inspires viewers through stories of
people making a difference in communities across the country.
Save The Redwoods League - ($40,000) - Mill
Creek is 25,000 acres of temperate rainforest that was acquired
from an industrial timber management company and transferred
to state parks for permanent protection. This restoration
effort seeks to accelerate the development of old forest characteristics
while providing opportunities for compatible public park use,
research and education.
Waterkeeper Northern California - ($20,000)
- Operational support for the only "on the water" monitoring
and watchdog advocacy organization working on issues of public
health and quality of life as they relate to water quality
in the Bay-Delta Watershed.
The Ocean Conservancy - ($15,000) - Support
for contract employee focusing on Marine Life Protection Act
implementation in California.
Marine Conservation Biology Institute - ($40,000)
- Advocacy and science related to the Northwestern Hawaiian
Islands National Marine Sanctuary Designation process.
The Ocean Project (through
SeaWeb) - ($25,000) - Seas The Day public
ocean constituency initiative that utilizes The Ocean Project's
partner network of aquariums, zoos and museums to distribute
its message.
Marin Environmental Film Festival - ($2,500)
- General support for the 2005 Festival.
Environmental Media Fund - ($7,500) - General
operating and capacity building
